Charity backs fuel poverty campaign
One Community began its Surviving Winter 2013 fundraiser on Monday by asking people who feel they don’t need their winter fuel payment to use it to help others.
The community foundation for Kirklees – one of the Reporter Series Fund’s chosen charities – raised £2,450 for people and groups in our district through the same initiative last year.

One Community major gifts manager Paul Johnson: “This winter many old folks will have to choose between heating and eating.
“It is shocking that Britain is second only to Estonia in Europe for the number of people who struggle to pay their energy bills.
“And with fuel prices continuing to rise, we feel we must do even more this year to address this issue.”
